Have you ever thought to ask "Alexa" questions about faith?

“Who or what is God?”

You might ask this question of a friend, a family member, or priest, but have you ever thought to ask your technology?

A new app released by the Church of England allows you to ask this question to Amazon’s voice-controlled speaker, Alexa.

The app is programmed to answer 28 questions, including reciting the Ten Commandments, the nearest place of Christian worship, explaining church weddings, and answering metaphysical questions. The majority of explanations are geared toward atheists and agnostics. A Church of England representative said that the goal was to “bring people into a relationship with God.”

The Church hopes to launch the app on multiple platforms in the future, including Apple and Google.

Though technological advancements can never take the place of in-person relationships, apps like this can hopefully be a gateway to spiritual growth for people interested in Christianity.
