How do you say goodbye to your father who stays behind to fight in the war?

A young boy, just a toddler, escapes from war-torn Ukraine. He appears to be traveling with his mother or someone else close to him. “We left Dad in Kyiv. He will sell all sorts of things to help our heroes, our army.” He wipes his wet eyes. “He’ll probably fight, too.”

The conversation with the boy was recorded about halfway between Kyiv and Lviv.

“We’ve been walking for about three hours and you’ve saved us now. I thought we were going to have to walk for two or even three days. I thought that we would be on our feet, but then you came to help us,” he says as the shadow of a smile appears on the little boy’s face.

This little boy has a very brave heart. Like millions of Ukrainian children …
