Prayer to increase a desire to receive Holy Communion

HOLY COMMUNION

Ric Perezmont | Cathopic CC0

Philip Kosloski - published on 06/05/22

When you aren't feeling a strong desire to receive Jesus in Holy Communion, try this prayer.

Sometimes we will attend Mass and don’t feel a strong desire to receive Jesus in Holy Communion. Approaching the altar for communion can feel like going through the motions.

It’s at those times that we can pray to God and ask him to increase that desire, expressing that feelings that we want to feel in our hearts.

Jesus, my king, my God, and my all, my soul longs for you, my heart yearns to receive you in Holy Communion. Come, Bread of Heaven, come, Food of Angels, to nourish my soul and to bring joy to my heart. Come, most amiable spouse of my soul, to inflame me with such love of you, that I may never again displease you, never again be separated from you by sin.
