To compose such stunning Advent insights under such conditions ... It's amazing what God can do with us when we give ourselves to Him!

Fr. Alfred Delp was a heroic German Jesuit priest who was executed in 1945 for being a leader in the Resistance movement against the Nazis. While incarcerated  in solitary confinement for five months in Berlin, Fr. Delp managed to compose stunning meditations about Advent which he wrote—usually while his hands were in handcuffs—on small slips of paper that had been smuggled in to him.

Fr. Delp’s profound Advent reflections have been compiled in a must-read book titled Advent of the Heart—a mystery that this spiritual giant truly modeled.

Spend a few seconds with just one of the profound insights Fr. Delp shared with us from his cell.
