Litany for earthquake victims in Turkey and region

TURKEY QUAKE

We turn to the men and women of the early Church to pray for their beloved region.

As we see the horrendous images coming from Turkey and Syria, where a 7.8 earthquake brought people from their sleep into the freezing cold and a day of winter storms, we turn to the saints for their intercession.

The shock was felt in Turkey, Syria, Lebanon and Israel and the death toll is already well above 4,000 (now a day after the quake).

St. Peter, first Pope, who preached in Antioch, pray for us.
Sts. Andrew and Philip, Apostles, who preached the Word of hope to this region, pray for us.
St. Paul, who journeyed through the region, preaching the Gospel, pray for us.

Great doctors of the Church, friends and brothers, John Chrysostom, Basil the Great, Gregory of Nazianzen, John Chrysostom, pray for us.
St. Cyril of Jerusalem, pray for us.
St. John of Damascus, pray for us.
St. Ephrem the Syrian, pray for us.

Our Lady of Sorrows, Consoler of Syrians, pray for us.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on your suffering people. Amen.
