Heartbreaking images of dog grieving near Filipino bishop’s coffin

Labs the dog

Labs the dog gave his former master, Bishop Victor C. Ocampo, a dignified and meaningful send-off.

When Bishop Victor C. Ocampo passed away on his 71st birthday, he left behind his loyal friend and pet, Labs. And in some touching photos shared by the Diocese of Gumaca in the Philippines, the beautiful dog can be seen grieving the loss of the district’s third bishop.

The photos show a very forlorn Labs, who seems lost in thought and steadfastly faithful to his former master who died of a heart attack.

The images remind us of the important role dogs play in our lives, and the great companionship they bring. The are a gift of God, bringing great comfort and help to us. It is beautiful but also heartbreaking to witness the faithfulness Labs has for the bishop. The no doubt must have brought each other joy in their time together.
